The RSSU School Champions’ Cup within the frames of the 2017 Moscow Open was held in the course of nine days in the Russian State Social University. More than 740 participants we struggling for the main prizes – entries to the World School Championship that will be held in Iassy, Romania this April. The cherished entries were given to the chess players, placed first in their respective groups. The names of the winners became known Saturday, February 4.
Olesya Vlasova (Moscow) with 8,5 of possible 9 points became the first in the group of U9 Girls. Evelina Zavivaeva (Nizhny Novgorod) and Olesya Fedorova (Moscow) are 1,5 points behind the winner. Zavivaeva became a silver medalist according to the tie-breaks.
Egor Yaurov (Voronezh) finished first in the group of U9 Boys. He scored 8 points. Nikita Fomin (Moscow region) and Patrick Pershin (Moscow) clinched the second and the third places respectively. They left Savva Vetokhin (Moscow) and Yaroslav Zinchenko (St. Petersburg) behind the medal winners. All four of them scored 7,5 points.
Evita Cherepanova (Rostov region) became the winner of the U11 Girls’ tournament. She earned 8 points. Alisa Surovtseva (Togliatti) is half a point behind the leader. The bronze medal belongs to Nadezhda Sosnina (Perm) – 7 points.
In the same age category among boys the victory was celebrated by the Muscovite Alexey Vasilyev – 8 points. Roman Fridman and Lev Gofman (both from Moscow too) with 7,5 points won the second and the third places.
Alexandra Safronova (Tula) with 7,5 points celebrated the victory in the U13 Girls’ tournament. Three chess players remained half a step behind her. Ekaterina Shubina (Moscow region) won a silver medal, and the bronze belongs to Tatiana Larina (Moscow) according to the tie-breaks. Victoria Khurkhesova (Ulan-Ude) finished with the fourth result.
Maxim Zhukov (Nizhegorodskaya region) and Timur Sabirov (Khanty-Mansiysk) scored 8 points in the U13 Boys’ tournament. The gold medal belongs to Maxim Zhukov thanks to the tie-breaks, and Sabirov won a silver medal. Matvey Mishuris (Moscow) with 7,5 points is the third.
In the tournament of senior girls three chess players showed the best result. Ekaterina Gyrgenova (Ulan-Ude) became the winner according to the tie-breaks. Ekaterina Sosnina (Perm) and Ksenia Nikolaeva (Leninogorsk) became the second and the third correspondingly.
Dzhabrail Kamaev (Dagestan) with 7,5 points became the winner of the U15 Boys’ tournament. The second and the third places were allocated to Dandar Shoboev (Ulan-Ude) and Emil Mekhraliev from Azerbaijan respectively. Both scored 7 points.
We should note that the World Vice-Champion Sergey Karyakin, the RSSU Rector Natalya Pochinok, the Moscow Chess Federation first Vice-President Nikita Kim took part in the Award Ceremony.
