There is only one week left until the beginning of the 13th International RSSU Chess Cup Moscow Open 2017. During 10 days the halls and classrooms of the Russian State Social University will be hosting chess battles. The main programme of the festival will include 8 tournaments together with two blitz competitions, an international conference “Chess in the educational system” and also numerous seminars. The total number of the participants will exceed 1500 people.
More than 40 Grandmasters will take part in the main tournaments – Russian Cup stages 2017. The start list of the men’s competitions will be lead by Sanan Sjugirov (2673, Elista), Gata Kamsky (2666, USA), Vladislav Artemiev (2655, Omsk), Dmitry Kokarev (2651, Penza), Boris Grachev (2650, Moscow), Denis Khismatullin (2639, Neftekamsk).
Rating-favorites of the Russian Cup stage among women will be represented by: Alexandra Goryachkina (2466, Salekhard), Anastasia Bodnaruk (2463, St. Petersburg), Alisa Galliamova (2446, Kazan), Alina Kashlinskaya (2418, Moscow), Marina Nechaeva (2406, Stavropol), Polina Shuvalova (2389, Moscow).
RSSU Cup among school champions will be traditionally numerous. There will be two tournaments for veterans – among men and women. More than 300 chess players with FIDE rating below 2300 will compete for a considerable prize fund in the RSSU Cup among amateurs. And the students will identify the strongest in the championship of the National Student Chess League.
Additionally, this year the prize fund of the RSSU Cup Moscow Open will comprise 4 500 000 rubles.
