Four Leaders Appeared in the 2017 Moscow Open Cup of Russia Tournaments

A little bit less than a half of the distance is over in the main tournament of the RSSU Cup, 2017 Moscow Open – Men’s and Women’s Cup of Russia tournaments. Four participants managed to keep a 100% result in both tournaments.

Dmitry Gordievsky, Semen Lomasov, Boris Grachev (all from Moscow) and Ramil Faizrakhmanov (Kazan) top the table in the men’s competitions.  Ramil managed to win over the ranking favorite Sanan Sjugirov (Kazan) in the fourth round. Nine chess players scored 3,5 points.

We should also mention that besides Sjugirov favorites of the women’s tournament also suffered losses – Anastasia Bodnaruk (St. Petersburg) and Alina Kashlinskaya (Moscow) – they lost correspondingly to Oksana Gritsayeva (Crimea) and Olga Babiy (Ukraine).

Polina Shuvalova (Moscow), Baira Kovanova (Elista), Oksana Gritsayeva and Olga Babiy with 4 points are leading in this tournament. Aleksandra Goryachkina (Salekhard), Alexandra Obolentseva (Moscow), Anastasiya Rakhmangulova (Ukraine) and Alisa Galliamova (Kazan) are half a step behind the leaders.

Evgeny Sveshnikov (Chelyabinsk) and Evgeni Vasiukov (Moscow) with four victories share the leadership in the RSSU Veteran Cup. 12 chess players are half a point behind the leaders.

Galina Strutinaskaia is the sole leader in the women’s veteran competitions. In the fourth round the female chess player from Moscow managed to win over Elena Fatalibekova and scored 4 points. Ludmila Saunina from Ekaterinburg is half a step behind the leader. Four participants scored 3 points.

In the RSSU Amateur Cup nine chess players haven’t experienced any losses so far.

The fifth round of the competitions will be held Wednesday, February 1.
