Dmitry Gordievsky Is Leading in the Moscow Open Men’s Cup of Russia

One round before the finish Muscovite Dmitry Gordiensky grasped leadership in the Moscow Open Cup of Russia, unofficially named to be the main tournament of the festival. In the game of the eighth round the chess player from the capital won over Saveliy Golubov (Moscow region). Gordievsky now possesses 7 points.

Vladislav Artemiev (Kazan) and Boris Grachev (Moscow) played in a draw in another game of leaders. Four players catch up with them now: Gata Kamsky (USA), Maksat Atabayev (Turkmenistan), Denis Khismatullin (Neftekamsk) and Maksim Vavulin (Moscow). All scored 6,5 points. 

Oksana Gritsayeva still keeps the first line of the table in the 2017 Women’s Cup of Russia tournament. This time she played in a draw with Alina Kashlinskaya (Moscow) and scored 7,5 points. Kashlinskaya, Alisa Galliamova (Kazan) and Anastasia Bodnaruk (St. Petersburg) scored 6,5 points. Six female chess players scored 6 points.

Galina Strutinskaia is the winner of the RSSU Women’s Veteran Cup one round before the end of the tournament. The chess player from Moscow managed to score 7,5 points in eight rounds. Elena Fatalibekova (Moscow), Elena Sazonova (Tyumen) and Ludmila Saunina (Ekaterinburg) scored 5,5 points and are sharing places 2-4. 

Evgeny Sveshnikov with 7 points tops the table of the RSSU Men’s Veteran Cup. This round the grandmaster from Chelyabinsk won over Amanmurad Kakageldyev (Turkmenistan). The leader is chased by Evgeni Vasiukov and Evgeni Dragomarezkij (Moscow), Alexander Filipenko (Izhevsk). They scored 6,5 points.

The sole leader has appeared for the first time in the RSSU Amateur Cup. It’s Sergey Tunik (Kemerov region) with 7,5 points. Gleb Apryshko (Moscow), Dmitry Fraiman (St. Petersburg) and Yuri Malinin (Leningrad region) are half a step behind him.

The final, ninth round of the competitions will be held Sunday, February 5. The games will start at 11:00.  The Ceremony Closing of the festival will be held right after the games are over, approximately at 18:00.
