The Award Ceremony is Held for the Winners of the XII RSSU Cup, 2016 Moscow Open

Sunday, February 7 the Award Ceremony of the XII International RSSU Cup, 2016 Moscow Open was held in the assembly hall of the Russian State Social University.

The Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia, the RSSU President Evgeny Bushmin, the RSSU Rector, Doctor of economic sciences Natalia Pochinok and the President of the Moscow Chess Federation Vladimir Palikhata entered the scene to congratulate and award the winners. They addressed the participants of the competitions with welcome speeches.

Evgeny Bushmin: “I am very glad that this year the 12th edition of the RSSU Cup was held, and I’m sure that we have enough energy to organize the 13th and the 14th editions of the Cup. We got prepared to the tournament well, and this year we have everything: from the Guinness’s record to the biggest ever number of the participating countries.

My congratulations on the closing of the tournament, and I hope, we will meet again in a year. Best of luck to everybody!”

Natalia Pochinok: “I would like to mention that our 12th tournament is the beginning of an outstanding long way, as we will meet here again in a year, in the 13th International RSSU Cup Moscow Open and will set new goals and tasks.”

Vladimir Palikhata: “First of all, I’d like to congratulate all the winners and participants of the RSSU Cup. It was a great week in the world of chess, a week full of emotions, tears and smiles, victories and losses. I would also like to mark the highest level of this tournament, hard and exhausted work that is being done here. Tomorrow we will start our preparations to the next 13th edition of the tournament.

In conclusion I’d love to thank all the participants, staff members, our partners and sponsors. I hope, next year we will organize the tournament at even higher level, and we will have more participants and countries. Thank you all!”

I’m very happy that this year we received a chance to launch the Student Chess League that is a basis to form correct chess education in schools, pre-school institutions within the frames of cooperation with employees and veterans. Together with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation we have agreed that this year we will try to involve 50% of colleges to the Student Chess League, to open chess clubs, to share the methods of chess activity organization and to include our future – today’s students into the united tournament bracket.

Closing this tournament, I would like to wish our Student Chess League to give us a chance to set new and new records. My biggest thanks to all the participants for providing our competitions with great attention. As I think, the Moscow Open is the proud of Russia, Moscow and the RSSU. See you next year!”

After the official part was over, the Award Ceremony began. The Lokomotiv Russian Sports Society Director Executive Ilia Vdovin awarded the tournament prize winners with the watches by the Russian manufacturer. All winners and medalists received nice cups in the form of the chess knight.

See you in 2017!
